Position Details:

Patient Population: Neonatal

Setting: Hospital-based NICU coverage at two facilities

Responsibilities:

• Provide neonatal care at Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital (60-bed regional perinatal center) and Lewis Gale Medical Center (6-bed Level II NICU)
• Serve as NICU Medical Director or Associate Medical Director with oversight of clinical and operational performance
• Manage advanced neonatal therapies including high-frequency ventilation, whole body cooling, and nitric oxide
• Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists, maternal-fetal medicine, and pediatric surgery teams
• Participate in education and mentoring of medical students and residents
• Engage in quality improvement and research initiatives
• Provide day coverage with on-call and weekend responsibilities

Required Procedures: Advanced NICU and critical care neonatal management

EMR System: Not specified

Support Staff:

• 10 Neonatologists
• 5 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
• Multidisciplinary pediatric subspecialty support

Days Per Month: Full-time
On-Call/Weekends: Required

Submission Requirements:

• Board Eligible (within 5 years) or Board Certified in Neonatology
• Active Virginia license or willingness to obtain
• DEA prior to start
• NPDB Self Query within 30 days
• Clean malpractice/license history preferred
• Must reside locally or willing to relocate
• J1 visa support available (J1 only)
• Neonatal leadership experience required for Medical Director role
