Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the direction of the Chief Radiologic Technologist, the Director of Medical Imaging, and the Staff Radiologists, the Radiologic Technologist is responsible to safely and proficiently perform diagnostic imaging procedures and related patient care according to, government regulations, physician orders, policies and procedures of the Medical Imaging Department, and policies and procedures of the hospital.
What you will do in this role:
- Takes personal responsibility to communicate with appropriate nursing unit personnel regarding patient transportation, the patient’s condition, post exam complications, delayed films, and canceled studies to insure proper patient care. Returns patient charts to proper location.
- Takes personality responsibility and acts to prevent errors, confusion, or conflict that will affect the patient.
- Takes initiative to begin procedures on the next patient without waiting to be told to do so and without pacing personal productivity to that of others who may be less productive.
- Shows patience and understanding when giving instructions to patients or when answering their questions about tests or exam charges.
- Checks out their concerns to insure that proper exams have been ordered Uses tact when asking family members to leave a procedure room.
- Considers the stressful demands placed upon other departments by physicians, patients, and exam schedules and cooperates with them for the sake of the patient without conflict.
- Is able to keep personal composure and calmly deal with irate patients, family members, employees, and physicians.
- Considers the age of the patient and adapts communication, transportation, and imaging routines to accommodate their physical, mental, emotional, and social needs.
- Respects and protects the patient’s privacy and dignity while undressing/dressing for procedures and by keeping them appropriately covered during procedures.
- Obtains appropriate co-workers or family member presence or assistance as needed when working with a patient of the opposite sex and/or of a younger age to prevent embarrassment, offense, or accusation.
- Takes time to explain procedures to the patient and/or family members to prevent the same
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- (RT) Radiologic Technologist/Radiographer
- (ARRT-R) Radiography
- Certificate, or Associate Degree
- No Travel Required
- No experience Required Years of Experience
