We are looking for a full-time Sr. Process Engineer your typical work will be providing functional and expert knowledge in process management and control on film extrusion applications and equipment. Systematically engineer all aspects of equipment and processes to reach full capability, flexibility and cost efficiency. Experience in Film Extrusion manufacturing processes in required. Experience in Biax Film Extrusion & Fat Die Extrusion including cast web processes strongly preferred.

Cost Management—Establish projects which are targeted to obtain an effective return on capital investment that meets current and future manufacturing requirements. Establish and prioritize manufacturing process control focused on increasing quality, controlling waste and obtaining maximum line efficiencies that meet or improve budget goals.

Organizational Leadership—Provide technical assessments of plant resources regarding necessary skill levels, training requirements and measurement factors to support the manufacturing processes. Actively contribute to the training and coaching in technical and interaction management skills for maintenance personnel, line operators and supervisors. Assess technical and leadership capabilities to meet current and future requirements.

The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $145,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity. This range is provided to ensure clarity and promote equitable access to employment opportunities.

What You’ll Do:

  • Facilitate and foster a culture of safety, wellness and continuous improvement.
  • Supports all activities in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality and food safety management system
  • Report any quality and/or food safety problems to personnel of authority to initiate action.
  • Problem Solving—Developed specific test to determine in-depth requirements of process needs and root cause analysis for film extrusion line.
  • Decisions—Managers depend on technical and managerial ability to assess department technical needs to meet manufacturing requirements and expansion. Provide direct continuous improvement of efficiencies and successful expansion.
  • Technical Guidance—Provide plant maintenance and operations with technical guidance. Provide guidance on contentious improvement to develop their ability to maintain and setup equipment which produces product that meets specifications. Support the TC Transcontinental by providing technical guidance for a better understanding of the Spartanburg Plant manufacturing and packaging process capabilities, both existing and potential.
  • Role in Technical Development or Application—Provide a high-level expertise in the development of new and existing products, equipment requirements to manufacture these products, equipment requirements to manufacture these products and the development of the processes and controls.
  • Task Leadership—Manage projects to meet cost and timing commitments.
  • Contacts/Level of Interaction—Maintain direct level of contact with suppliers to ensure their capabilities are in line with product and process requirements. Support interaction with operations and quality in setting material product and quality specifications.
  • Interaction Management Skills—Utilize interaction management skills to listen to operators, maintenance technicians, supervisors and department managers needs and concerns. Both form a technical, department and plant development. Utilize information to provide plant leadership and participation in teams ranging from design to product development. Provide coaching to operators and technicians on interacting with plant leadership and engineers. Provide coaching to plant leadership on good manufacturing practices and interaction.

What You Bring:

  • Required experience in Film Extrusion Manufacturing Processes
  • Biax Film Extrusion Required
  • Flat Die Film Extrusion Experience including cast web Required
  • 4-year college degree preferred or equivalent experience. Engineering degree preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing certification preferred
  • Knowledge of film extrusion manufacturing processes required
  • Knowledge of packaging industry preferred
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
